Why answer sheet of SSC descriptive paper is divided into rows and?
SSC descriptive paper has word limit. One is supposed to write the essay question in 250 words and the letter in 150 words. Now it would be a tedious task for the examiner to count words in every answer sheet. So, to get rid of this problem they provide answer sheets divided in rows and columns. One cannot write more than one word in one box. And so from the no. of lines and pages that you have filled the examiner knows the exact no. of words you used to write the answer. Simple and efficient way to keep an eye on word count. :)
